97. William Derritt BANNER. Born on 11 Oct 1838 in Stokes Co., NC.

William moved to Banner Elk with his father in 1856. He fought in the Union army during the Civil War, Co.B, 4th Tenn. Vol. Infantry Regiment. After his marriage to Sallie, they moved to Vining, Kansas.

abt 1866 when William Derritt was 27, he married Sallie VON CANNON, in Watauga Co., NC(moved to Kansas).

They had the following children:

		i.	Ulysses.
		ii.	Lewis.
		iii.	Alice.
		iv.	Edna.

98. Samuel Henry BANNER. Born on 18 Aug 1840 in Stokes Co., NC. Samuel Henry died in Banner Elk, Watauga Co., NC on 18 Dec 1908, he was 68.

Samuel fought in the Union Army during the Civil War. He and Jane made their home near the power dam on Elk Creek, Banner Elk. Samuel donated land for Lees-McRae College to get the institution started. He also built the first sawmill in Banner Elk.

On 16 Dec 1868 when Samuel Henry was 28, he married Jane Ann HYDER, in Carter Co., Tenn. Born on 4 May 1848 in Eastern Tenn. Jane Ann died in Avery Co., NC on 6 Oct 1924, she was 76.

They had the following children:

	i.	John Lewis.
	ii.	Isaac Nathaniel. Born on 29 Oct 1871 in Watauga Co., NC. Isaac Nathaniel died in Avery Co., NC on 28 Mar 1911, he was 39.
	iii.	Nancy Louvenia.

	v.	Jane Bitting. Jane Bitting married Kenneth GILLESPI.

99. Albert Joshua BANNER. Born on 16 Sep 1845 in Stokes Co., NC. Albert Joshua died in Clifton Co., Kansas on 30 Mar 1905, he was 59.³⁹⁶

Joshua fought in the Union Army during the Civil War. After the war he moved to Clifton, Kansas. He married in Kansas.

Albert Joshua married Charlotte FUNNELL. Born on 28 Dec 1846 in Norfolk, England.³⁹⁶ Charlotte died in Clifton Co., Kansas on 5 Aug 1930, she was 83.³⁹⁶

They had the following children:

100. Mary Mildred BANNER. Born on 5 Oct 1848 in Stokes Co., NC. Mary Mildred died in Banner Elk, Avery Co., NC on 14 May 1928, she was 79.

On 17 Dec 1868 when Mary Mildred was 20, she married William VON CANON, in Watauga Co., NC. Born on 5 Oct 1840 in Watauga Co., NC (?). William died in Banner Elk, Avery Co., NC on 29 Mar 1926, he was 85.

They had the following children:

101. Lewis "Lute" Martin BANNER. Born on 29 Jan 1854 in Stokes Co., NC. Lewis "Lute" Martin died in Banner Elk, Avery Co., NC on 19 Sep 1916, he was 62.

Lewis was a merchant in Banner Elk, NC.
