Of interest is the fact that David Baker lived in that part of Burke County which became Mitchell County, NC. David Baker's next door neighbors are Joseph and Rickles STANDLEY. A connection between Joseph and Rickles Stanley to Jacob Standley's family has not been found. 51

The condition of the above Obligation is such that whereas the above bounded Thomas STANDLEY hath made application for a License to keep an Ordinary or Tavern at his house.
Now if the said Thomas STANDLEY shall comply with the Law in every Respect Relative to keeping an Ordinary or public house of Enternment, then the above Obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue.
