I am attempting to complete my wife’s family pedigree chart and need help in 1803 Surry Co., NC area. I have the HURT family line from William A. HURT, born Surry County, NC (?) 19 Jan 1803 thru the present date but am unable to locate the parents of said William A. HURT. The only place that I have seen the name William A. HURT is in the Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah. All other info has been from census records, marriage bonds, cemetery and homestead records, family discussions, etc. I speculate that he is the grandson of John HURT, Jr. born ca 1740-1745 who died in Surry County, NC in 1796. (Note: John was originally listed here, incorrectly, as John A. Hurt.) William A. HURT was married in Warren Co, Kentucky and died in Auburn, Logan County, Ky. 3 Jul 1884. John William married Kary L. POINDEXTER, b. 22 Sept 1872 in Surry County, NC, daughter of Wiiliam Jiles POINDEXTER and Letitia STANLEY. John William died 18 Mar 1922 and Kary died 1 Dec 1931 both in Surry County, NC. They lived in the Stonyknoll Community and are both buried at Double Creek Church of Christ. Also, seeking picture of John and Kary’s daughter, Flora E. STANLEY, b. 28 Nov 1896 in Surry Co.,NC and married Grover Cleveland VENABLE in Surry Co.,NC on 27 Jun 1920. Flora died on 14 Apr. 1963 and is buried at Copeland Baptist Church. Flora and Cleve lived in the Copeland Community of Surry County, NC. I will gladly pay for copies of photos!!!
