HARRIS – MOORE –FRANKLIN - I am looking for the ancestors for a Joel
J. HARRIS who wed Mary M. MOORE in 1829 in Rutherford, NC.
There was a Silas HARRIS wed to
an Edith FRANKLIN in Surry County
in 1801 who had a son named Joel (b. 1805). Does anyone have
information on any of the Silas HARRIS
family? Jack Harris
LAWSON – GORDON –
EATON - I've been researching my
nephew's wife's family and found what appears to be the burial place of several
of her LAWSON close relatives.
Jasper N. LAWSON & his wife Mary are her great
grandparents. Granville GORDON and
Susan EATON are very probably
Granville Crafford GORDON and Mary
"Sug" aka Polly GORDON, my
niece Mary's GREAT GREAT GRANDPARENTS. She and her daughter are buried in plots
#117 & #118 at PILOT VIEW UNITED METHODIST CHURCH CEMETERY. in Surry County
N.C. There is a family story that Mary "Sug"
aka Polly may be Mary Susan was
either Cherokee or Blackfeet and therefore her daughter Mary (middle name either
Elizabeth or Melissia) were also Indian. I have been unable to prove it. The U.S. census
lists them as White. My niece ,Mary, is now a member of the Colonial Dames and
we've managed to prove her kinship to the Newsoms and Barhams in 1600s in Jamestown. Nevertheless,
this is something I have not been able to track down and would love to know.
Any help would be most sincerely
appreciated. Sara Applebaum

granddaughter of Dr. Tyre YORK. I can trace her ancestry back but cannot

WILLIAMS –SOMERVILLE - I researching John
Taylor WILLIAMS b. abt 1829 in Surry/Yadkin Co., NC.
On the 1860 census heirs listed as being born in Yadkin Co., Yadkin was not
formed from Surry until 1850. So I am checking Surry and Yadkin both. He moved
to Warren Co. before 1836 and married Mary Catherine SOMERVILLE on 04 Aug 1836 in Warren Co., NC. Joe McDonald
MARSH – HANKAMER
-YOUNG - Looking for information on James and Viola MARSH and their children . One of there children was our
Mother Lollie Mae MARSH. Other
child I know was a Jessie MARSH, a son. Know she went back to
Dobson, NC in 1950 to get second divorce from my father Hiram Melvin HANKAMER. After divorce went back to
Sacramento, CA. She remarried Donald A. YOUNG
in Reno , Nevada
after the Divorce was final in 1950. Have believe this was home for her family
and went home to have family support . On my sisters and my birth
certificate says mothers place of birth as NC. Our father by first divorce had custody
of me while mother had custody of sister. Father got temporary custody of sis
when mother was sick and against a court order removed us from the state of Calif. We have
never seen our mother again. In the 1930 census she and her family had moved to
Fries, WV. This leaves me to believe that family or part of family had
moved back home to NC. Any information would greatly be appreciated and thank
you in advance. Hank A. Silver
CLARK – SHELTON – JOHNSON –
CROSSINGHAM – McNALLY - I have been
looking for a James CLARK to add to
a tree I am working on. The "Family Search" LDS site lists him
as having been born in Surry County,
NC, November 8, 1773. One
of his sons was Samuel B CLARK who
was born in KY or AL and married Lucinda SHELTON.
I think James may have moved to Kentucky,
but have not been able to find him, mainly because there are so many James CLARK’s in KY. It is also possible he
went to Alabama.
One of Samuel B's sons was Andrew. Have traced this family fairly easily
back to Samuel in Kentucky,
but then could not find his father, James. I expect he was a farmer and
not important enough to be on the various websites that relate to folks in the 1700's. The LDS site lists
James father as having been Micajah CLARK
born Albemarle Co., VA, and married to Luranna JOHNSON from Louisa County, Virginia.
If you have any information that would help me find James I would surely
appreciate it. Also please let me know if there is a charge for the help.
Getting a bit poor these days. Also, though I am not related to the CLARK family, I do have some roots in Mt. Airy in Surry County.
They would be the James and Anita CROSSINGHAM
family---actually just Anita who was my mother's cousin. Her maiden name
was McNALLY and they were from Germantown, Philadelphia.
If you need any information on the McNALLY, I would be happy to send you whatever I
have. I expect, because they were well known in Mt. Airy,
there is more than enough info available.

was. Moyers went by different spellings: MOYERS/MAYERS/MYERS/MYARS. Any information would be
appreciated. Thank you. Jo
